Beatty, Nevada

U.S. Postal Service
Beatty Branch

Beatty was officially established in October of 1905, right in the middle of the Bullfrog mining boom—when this whole area was buzzing with miners, dreamers, and a whole lot of dust. The town was named after Montillus Murray Beatty, better known as “Old Man Beatty,” who also served as the very first Postmaster.

He took the position on January 19, 1905, and held it until March 24, 1906.

Now here’s the part most people don’t realize…

The Beatty Post Office isn’t just another building—it’s the oldest operating business in town, serving this community for well over 100 years. Back in the early days, this place wasn’t just about letters—it was how people stayed connected to the outside world. News, money, supplies, family updates… it all came through here. And when nearby boomtowns like Rhyolite came and went, Beatty held on—and so did the post office.

That’s kind of a big deal.

Because in a small desert town, if the post office is still standing and still working… the town is still alive and kicking.

Today, it’s still doing what it’s always done—keeping Beatty connected. Whether you’re picking up your mail, sending a package, or checking your P.O. box (because let’s be real… that’s how we do things out here), you’re part of a tradition that’s been going strong for generations.

Notes from the Post Office:

Hello! I am the new/old Postmaster, and my name is Louis (Lou) Meadows. I became the Postmaster of Beatty during September of 2024. I periodically go on assigned details for the Post Office which is what happened for most of 2025. I live in Pahrump and travel daily to work in Beatty. My wife, Alexa, who is a clerk at the Pahrump Post Office, and I have a home in Pahrump and will not be moving to your lovely community, but I intend to be a familiar sight at as many functions as possible.

Unfortunately, I bring sad tidings. Kynda Brown is no longer a clerk at the Beatty office. She has accepted a promotion to Postmaster at the Round Mountain office. It is a promotion well deserved and overdue. She will be missed in Beatty. Dora and I will continue striving to do our best to provide the best customer service possible for the good people of Beatty.
