Beatty, NV 89003 The Beatty Area Master Plan, is a strategic planning agenda that will provide a framework to guide
change and economic growth for the next ten to twenty years in Beatty. The plan seeks to provide a high quality physical
environment that is attractive, and safe for residents and visitors. The details of the plan are being shaped in a series of focus group meetings. Community Workshop meetings, attended by residents, representatives from community organizations, and elected town and county officials. The plan reflects a prioritization of issues, objectives and strategies expressed by the participants of the workshops combined with the analysis of existing conditions and trends affecting the region. Residents and community leaders in Beatty seek policies that will allow the community to grow sensibly by balancing economic developement and protection of the natural environment, focusing new development where public services and utilities are already available, or will be installed by new developments. The unincorporated Town of Beatty contains18,368 acres, of which only a small percentage of acres are in private ownership. The balance is public land managed by federal agencies, state agencies, and the county. The predominance of pubic lands restricts community expansion and economic development. The county is currently addressing this issue by identifying public lands desired by the county and communities for economic development and community expansion. The Beatty Town Advisory Board and Nye County are working together to complete a vision for the future while maintaining the quiet rural lifestyle that people enjoy in Beatty. |
